Arizona Governor Ducey Appoints New Director for the Department of Child Safety

The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) will be having a new director to lead the agency in September 2019.

Governor Doug Ducey revealed the news on Tuesday, said he had picked Mike Faust as DCS new director. He will replace Greg McKay, the former director of DCS.

Mike Faust is currently serving as deputy director of support services; he will assume the office of DCS as a director in September. Earlier, Greg McKay stated that he is resigning from the director post and will work for an NGO Childhelp USA. Childhelp USA is a Phoenix-based NGO that helps the child abuse victims across the US through education treatment and prevention programs, McKay revealed it on July 10th, 2019 and likely to step-down in the last week of August.

Mike Faust has been a key person in imposing discipline in agency activities that resulted in removing inactive cases and also concentrated on minimizing children arriving into state custody.

Governor Ducey mentioned in a statement, and he selected Mike Faust because he knows the significance of caring for weak children and also worked for the agency to make it more open to their requirements.

 Arizona Governor said in a press release,

“His passion and deep understanding of this important responsibility has led to better outcomes for thousands of vulnerable children including the elimination of the inactive case backlog and an overall reduction of children in out-of-home care.”

Mike Faust started working for the state government from 2015 onwards. Initially, he served the Arizona Department of Administration’s Government Transformation Office and later in 2016 he was transferred to DCS agency.

 Mike Faust responded to the news in the press release saying, “Through the efforts of our valued DCS case managers and staff, partnerships with the provider community and support of the kinship, foster and adoption community, we will continue to seek outcome improvements for Arizona’s vulnerable children.”

In a press release, Arizona governor mentioned,

“Mike Faust has spent the last four years as an instrumental figure in the positive transformation of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.”

Mike Faust before associating with the state government, Mike worked nearly for 15 years in the aerospace manufacturing sector. DCS was formed in 2014.

Outgoing director of DCS, McKay mentioned in a press release that, we had worked regularly to enhance DCS; Mike Faust has been head of our operations. I am certain in Mike’s capability to support and develop on this progress. The Arizona Governor’s office did not mention on Faust’s new salary instantly. However, Faust is currently receiving $160,000, and McKay is currently receiving $215,250.
